Hotel Snapshot

Texas is more likely to engender images of the wild west than European elegance, but at Hotel Granduca, you may just have to rethink your preconceived notions of the Lone Star State. Conveniently located in Houston’s trendy Uptown Park, this all-suite boutique hotel combines southern hospitality with old-world sensibilities, resulting in a beautiful stay that is as warm and welcoming as it is chic and luxurious.

Design & Character

The hotel originally opened its doors nearly two decades ago, but in March 2025, it underwent an extensive renovation that has breathed new life into Granduca. Inspired by the villas of the Italian countryside, Hotel Granduca takes reclaimed architectural elements and blends them with unique furnishings, creating an altogether unique aesthetic that is half American South and half classical Europe. After all, where else might you find a Renaissance bust sitting atop a reclaimed mahogany bureau, all next to a taxidermy bust?

Nowhere is the character of the hotel more evident than in the beautifully appointed lobby, a grand and welcoming space that leverages rich textures and colors alongside layered materials of velvet and dark wood to create a sense of rich opulence that is both quintessentially Texan and Italian. And the highlight of the space? A Tiger Velvet tête-à-tête chair is the perfect place for guests to people-watch or just take in the surroundings.

The Rooms

Each of Granduca’s 121 rooms is outfitted as a suite, proving that just about everything really is bigger in Texas. When you’re staying at this hotel, you certainly won’t want for space, no matter how many people you bring along in your party—we love that rooms feature separate sitting areas, a kitchenette, and more than enough real estate for you to truly spread out and relax.

Rooms are outfitted with the same calming, neutral color palettes that you’ll find throughout the rest of the property, with comfortable furnishings that are infinitely inviting. Floral arrangements also mirror the greenery just outside the windows, and warm lighting, both from in-room fixtures and from the large glass panes, makes the rooms seem at one with nature. Bathrooms offer more than enough space for two, with several suites offering both a soaking tub as well as a shower. And those robes are super cozy.

Food & Drink

One of the highlights of Granduca is its new restaurant REMI, which opened in March 2025. Led by Italian Executive Chef Maurizio Ferrarese, REMI continues the unique theme of Italy in Texas, and you’ll find house-made pastas and pizzas, crispy Roman artichokes, and king salmon. We also love the bar in REMI, where you’ll be able to find coffee and tea in the morning, and then classic and inventive cocktails during the later hours. Don’t miss out on REMI’s signature high tea sandwich, which you can indulge in either in the beautiful courtyard of the property or the mysterious, moody library.

Amenities

We love the large outdoor pool that provides the perfect escape from the hot Texas sun (just about any time of year). Lounge in one of the poolside chaises, or spend a little bit of time in the hot tub if the weather happens to be a bit cooler. You could also stay active thanks to the hotel’s fitness room.

Location & Neighborhood Recs

One of the best things about Granduca is its location in a high-end Houston neighborhood that offers plenty of shopping, as well as delightful restaurants, wine bars, coffee shops, and cafes. You’re literally walking distance from the boutiques in Uptown Park, or drive just a few minutes to the Galleria for more world-class shopping. Grab some French food at Etoile or some globally-inspired comfort food at JOEY Uptown, and then have a glass of wine at Stella’s Wine Bar.
