Hotel Snapshot
Amid a skyline crowded with high-rise luxury hotels, TRUNK(HOTEL) Yoyogi Park sets itself apart as Tokyo’s best boutique stay — a streamlined, stylish oasis with a rare rooftop pool and leafy views. At once social and serene, it’s where in-the-know out-of-towners go to slow down, swim, sip cocktails, and, eventually, snooze. With a location overlooking Yoyogi Park and stylish spaces made for lingering, it’s the city’s answer to chill mode.
Design & Character
Designed by Keiji Ashizawa, in collaboration with Danish design studio Norm Architects, TRUNK(HOTEL) Yoyogi Park blends contemporary Japanese and Scandi style. An earthy neutral palette, light wood, concrete, and plants bridge the two aesthetic influences, creating sleek, chic spaces imbued with warmth and tranquil character — a visual relief from the non-stop bustle of the city.
The Rooms
The design narrative extends to the rooms, all of which feature bespoke furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows that stream in natural light, and balconies. For a private, exclusive experience, book the top-floor Owners Suite, complete with separate living and sleeping spaces, a foliage-shrouded balcony, and a terrace overlooking the pool and verdant Yoyogi Park.
Food & Drink
The all-day Italian eatery, Pizzeria e Trattoria L'Ombelico, is perennially packed with locals looking to get their fix of caponata topped with burrata, pesto fusilli, and Neapolitan-style pizza. Guests are also welcome to enjoy breakfast in the street-level restaurant or head to the sixth-floor lounge for açaí bowls, egg sandwiches, and fluffy pancakes. In the afternoon and into the evening, it turns into a convivial yet totally chill spot to grab a drink or a bite.
Amenities
The guest-only swim club is the hotel’s crown jewel, complete with a heated outdoor pool, jacuzzi, fire pit, and sunken seating to kick back with a cocktail or glass of wine overlooking Yoyogi Park.
Guests who want to bring a piece of TRUNK(HOTEL) Yoyogi Park back home can purchase curated items created by local artisans, such as candles, blankets, and socks, at the online shop.
Spa & Wellness Scoop
While there’s no spa, guests have access to the outdoor heated pool and hot tub. Rooms are also stocked with yoga mats and foam rollers, plus a multistep-step skincare routine from Japanese indie brand Damdam(so no need to pack your whole lineup of products).
Location & Neighborhood Recs
TRUNK(HOTEL) Yoyogi Park boasts one of the best locations in Tokyo. Not only does it offer instant access to Yoyogi Park and cool cafés in Tomigaya, but it's a short walk to Harajuku for colorful fashion, Ometsando for vintage designer shopping, and Shibuya for neon lights, dizzying entertainment, and the largest pedestrian crossing in the world.
